I was so excited to sit down and write this week’s issue of Six String Sunday. We have awesome looking guitars, a bunch of new music, a handful of lessons and more. Hope you’re enjoying some good woodshedding time!
Six String Sunday (May 23rd, 2021)
Hey everyone! Welcome back to your regularly scheduled dose of guitar goodness. This week guitars went missing, and were found, we took a look at 10 future prog legends, learned about new gear like the Final Fantasy guitar, and so much more. I’m glad to be back with a full edition of the newsletter, after giving you a more bite size one last week.
Before we get into it, can you do me one favor? I’m looking to develop new and exciting lessons for Chasing Sound, so I’d love to know what you’re working on. Hit me up with a reply to this email or on Twitter if you’re reading this on the web - I’d appreciate it a bunch! Alright, let’s get into those links.
Paul Gilbert Premieres Werewolves of Portland Music Video
Paul Gilbert just premiered the newest song off his upcoming 'Werewolves of Portland' album. The video is for the title track, and features a whole lotta wolves, and some fantastic guitar playing. I love Paul's mini setup - lots of cool pedals, his sig. guitar, and a cool combo making an apperance!
Six String Sunday (May 16th, 2021)
How’s it going this week? Hope you’ve been getting some good, guitar playing time in! I’m writing this week’s issue on Thursday, May 13th, and tomorrow’s my birthday. Each year around this time, I take a one week break from the newsletter. But I didn’t want to leave you with no links at all - so here are some of the coolest things that have popped up in my inbox and across YouTube.
Six String Sunday (May 9th, 2021)
It’s been an awesome couple of weeks in the guitar world. We were treated to a movie about pedals, had lots of great gear news, and many helpful lessons. This week is no different! We have some classic videos getting a facelift from Steve Vai and Prince, interviews with Nita Strauss and Lari Basilio, classic moments from Danny Gatton, and lots more.
Reverb’s The Pedal Movie Is An Absolutely Inspiring Look At The Effects Pedal World
It says something about a movie, when in its first weekend I'm compelled to watch it 3 separate times. After watching Reverb.com's The Pedal Movie, I couldn't help but want to share it with other people. Reverb has always had stellar production in their videos, but The Pedal Movie takes that polish to a whole new level.
Six String Sunday (May 2nd, 2021)
It’s that time again - happy Sunday to ya! As the warmer weather continues to roll in, I’ve been more excited than ever to do so much for Chasing Sound. I think I was in a weird winter and early spring funk, and I’m glad to be out of it! This week I have brand new posts, lessons, new gear, and lots more.
Why You Should Sub to the Six String Sunday Guitar Newsletter
My weekly newsletter which collects the best guitar lessons, videos, gear reviews and more from around the internet, has been going out each Sunday for almost 5 years now!
I've sent issues out from Denmark, Canada, Texas, California, my home state of New Jersey, and many other places around the map! No matter where I was in the world, I'd grab my laptop or iPad and be sure to have an issue out each and every Sunday.
For those of you who haven’t signed up yet, each week I update you on what’s going on at Chasing Sound (posts and more), and I also scour YouTube and all my favorite guitar sites, to bring you my favorite links of the week. After being part of many guitar newsletters, I do have to say, I think Six String Sunday is one of the best out there!
Each issue is typically upwards of a thousand words, and the best part is that it’s entirely free to sign up.
I've taken so much feedback from my readers, and I think the newsletter has really grown into a great resource for all the guitarists out there. I want to thank all the great people who've ever emailed me, chatted with me in Discord, hit me up on social media or elsewhere. We've all made the newsletter what it is today.
I hope you’ll sign up. You can do so on the sidebar and footer of this site, or by clicking here.
