Reverbβs The Pedal Movie Is An Absolutely Inspiring Look At The Effects Pedal World
It says something about a movie, when in its first weekend I'm compelled to watch it 3 separate times. After watching Reverb.com's The Pedal Movie, I couldn't help but want to share it with other people. Reverb has always had stellar production in their videos, but The Pedal Movie takes that polish to a whole new level.
Six String Sunday (May 2nd, 2021)
Itβs that time again - happy Sunday to ya! As the warmer weather continues to roll in, Iβve been more excited than ever to do so much for Chasing Sound. I think I was in a weird winter and early spring funk, and Iβm glad to be out of it! This week I have brand new posts, lessons, new gear, and lots more.
3 Essential Things For The Perfect Practice Session
Iβve talked to so many different guitarists over the years, and one of the most common issues that I hear from them, is that they donβt feel like theyβre getting ahead in their playing.
Iβve talked at length about the power of focused practice. Thereβs time for noodling on guitar - in fact, I think you can run all your boring drills while doing something like watching TV. If youβre trying to build up hand strength, thereβs nothing better than working on hammer ons, pull offs and more, which donβt require your full attention.
But if you really want to get ahead, you need to have a plan when you sit down to practice. You need to know what youβre going to work on, what you worked on the previous day, and how much time you have to spend. Here are a few things that can help you create a meaningful practice session.
Six String Sunday (April 25th, 2021)
If last weekβs issue was a βshort oneβ at right around 700 or so wordsβ¦this weekβs issue is going to make up for that. I have tons of lessons, new gear, and so much more guitar related stuff to share with you this week! Iβm glad to say Iβm feeling a lot better than I was feeling last week, and that really pushed me to make a mega-issue of the newsletter.
Six String Sunday (April 18th, 2021)
Going to be a shorter newsletter than usual this weekend. Have been feeling pretty rough this week, but I still wanted to share some of the guitar links that I found to be helpful or interesting. Iβm sure I missed some videos, posts or lessons, and if I did, please hit me up on Twitter and let me know what you found!
Six String Sunday (April 11th, 2021)
This weekβs issue has everything from Joe Bonamassa sharing his secrets, to news about Jason Becker, a legendary Metallica guitar going up for sale, new lessons, and more.
Six String Sunday (April 4th, 2021)
Iβve spent a lot of time lately going back to blues playing - and not only lead stuff, but really working on new chord shapes I might have missed, or at least never learned the name of. Chords like 13βs and 9βs, and really pushing myself to understand the theory behind each chord, what substitutions work, and how my lead playing can improve my knowing all these important target notes (like the 3rd and 7th).
